The Complexity of Constitutional Carry Part 1
Complex Carry, Complicated Carry, Permit-less Carry, whatever you choose to call it, House Bill 1927 is now in effect, giving the majority of US Citizens the ability to carry a handgun in public places….. with exceptions.
Although many assume Texas’ newly enacted law gives everyone free rein to carry a handgun anywhere in public, that is not the case; there are still a lot of laws that must be abided by, and failure to do so could land you on the wrong side of the metaphorical line that separates law-abiding citizens from criminals.
“Ignorantia Juris Non Excusat” or “Ignorantia Legis Neminem Excusat” is Latin for ignorance of the law excuses not and "ignorance of law excuses no one" respectively, is a legal principle in which a person who is not aware of a law may not escape liability for violating that law just because they were unaware of its content.
We firmly believe that everyone has the right to defend themselves and their loved ones and encourage all legal citizens who are able and capable to do so, and there is no greater tool to accomplish this feat than a firearm. There’s a quote out there that says “God created man, Samuel Colt made them equal”.
With knowledge comes power and with power comes responsibility.
Although we do encourage people to train with and carry a firearm, it’s not always that simple, you have to know where you can and can't carry to keep yourself on the right side of the law. If you aren’t around due to negligence of the law, you won’t have the ability to defend your loved ones.
